Laguna Beach Golden Hour Engagement Session

Encompassing the love I have for my couples, where I live, and what I do is nearly impossible. But I feel like each blog or post on the ‘Gram is just as honest of an attempt as I could possibly make. Photographing Julia and Cole’s Laguna Beach golden hour engagement session over the winter was such a breath of fresh air; they are just one of those couples that feels like sunshine. Now as I reminisce on frolicking on the beach with these soon-to-be newlyweds, I’m brought back to the warm sunshine, salty breeze, and witnessing such a sweet chapter in their love story.

Julia first inquired not too long after Cole popped the question. These lovebirds had been doing long-distance, and were just elated to be beginning their lives together. Their Southern California engagement session was the perfect way to celebrate the next chapter in their life together. Cole actually grew up in the Golden State, him and Julia now both call this place home! In just a couple weeks, they will be tying the knot in Philadelphia (where Julia is from); talk about a full-circle moment. 

As a Southern California native, I’ll be the first to admit that there are some chilly winter days on the beach. Thankfully though, Julia and Cole’s Laguna Beach golden hour engagement session felt like a wash of warmth over my skin as I captured each barefoot impression in the sand. The golden sun dipping beyond the vibrant cliffs complimented their beach engagement outfits. While the number of outfits “allowed” for an engagement session depends on the photographer and timeframe, I always encourage my couples to choose outfits with different vibes. To say that Julia and Cole understood the assignment would be an understatement!

Coastal Engagement Session Outfit Ideas

For Julia and Cole’s engagement session, their outfits nodded towards classy and casual. These lovers were seriously style icons. For outfit number 1, Julia wore an off-white beachy one-shoulder satin dress. Cole wore dark jeans, a taupe jacket, and a white button-up. Outfit number 2 was somehow just as perfect as number 1! Julia wore blue jeans and a white long sleeve bodysuit. Cole wore dark jeans and a light blue button-up. To say that I found myself some models would be an understatement!

Julia and Cole’s chemistry was such a beautiful joy to witness throughout this winter evening on Laguna Beach. Between their smiles beaming from ear to ear, to the deep belly laughs, I was (and still am) completely smitten by their love. Between the vibrant blue skies striped with wispy clouds, the golden sunshine painting the distant cliffside, and the swaying palm trees, I could’ve sworn I was living in a rom-com.
