Julia and Nick… Where do I even begin? This sweet couple have been the epitome of “clients turned friends” since the day that I met them. We had initially connected before their engagement session in Joshua Tree; I had been looking forward to their wedding day for so long! Julia and Nick’s Southern California intimate backyard wedding was everything they had imagined. It was truly such an honor to capture this chapter of their love story.
Julia first described her wedding vision as, “a giant family dinner celebrating our love.” It’s safe to say that it was exactly that. There is something so refreshing about attending a wedding in which every little detail just screams “this is so them”. While the morning was spent getting ready at Julia’s sister’s house, the ceremony and reception actually took place at Julia and Nick’s home. For the past several years, Nick has worked hard making their house look like a home. He even built this beautiful pergola that him and Julia got married under. Knowing how much of themselves they’ve poured into their home made it that much more fitting that they started their married lives there.
As if Nick’s DIYs weren’t enough, the bride also put in a ton of work. Julia and her sisters put together all of the bouquets and decorated the space from floor to ceiling. The atmosphere was full of so much love and romance. Oh, and did I mention that Julia baked their wedding cake?! This was only the 3rd or 4th time she had ever made a cake. So sweet! The rest of the desert table was filled with Middle Eastern desserts to pay homage to Julia’s roots. Like I said in the beginning, every little detail throughout Julia and Nick’s Southern California intimate backyard wedding just screamed “this is so them!!”.
Julia and Nick,
I love that we have been able to become such close friends throughout the seasons of your engagement and wedding planning. Your day was overflowing with love; there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience as your said “I do”. Your hearts and the way you care for others was demonstrated fully on your wedding day; but your love for each other is shown even more so. I wish you the best in marriage. May your home continue to hold many more special memories for your future.
